What is the Try Freediving Course about?

Try Freediving Course in Manly Beach is a great way to get a taste of what it is like to discover the underwater world on one breath at a time. Also, it can serve as a refresher for someone that has done freediving in the past. You will learn how to freedive in a safe way, to understand the reactions of your body to breath-holding and how to get comfortable with discomfort.

We will meet at 9.30am to check our gear at The Bower, and head over to Shelly Beach.

During this one day course we will cover:

  • basic theory of freediving,
  • equalisation masterclass
  • in water safety
  • breathing session
  • lung stretching session

And after a break we will get in the water for an ocean session in the beautiful Cabbage Tree Bay!

Get comfortable in the water with Try Freediving

Try freediving is a great way to gain experience in the water. Also, grow in confidence and learn how to safely practice this beautiful sport without going to great depths just yet. The goal of this program is to make you enjoy your time in the water, be able to relax, have fun and connect with the ocean.

It is recommended that you dive with your own gear to get comfortable and familiar with it. But, if you are unsure of what to get or if you would like to try freediving before investing in equipment, we’ll provide you with everything you need for the course.

  • 1 day course
  • Beginner friendly
  • Equipment provided

Warning: freediving is highly addictive sport, and you might want to go for Freediving Level 1 upon completion.

Freediving seems pretty Extreme, what if I can’t do it?

Freediving is an incredibly relaxing activity that combines disciplines of the body and the mind. We will guide each guest individually to their own ability and limits. If for any reason you don’t feel like diving, you can still have a blast snorkeling around crystal clear waters or maybe doubling up on your yoga practice. Our Freediving instructors are very experienced and take safety very seriously, you are in really good hands.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

Our courses are open to people of all swimming abilities, some ocean experience and swimming fitiness is useful but not essential. If you are concerned, please drop us an email and our instructors can talk you through the plan and evacuate any doubts.

What equipment will I need?

We can provide everything you need for. However, if you have your own dive mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins and weight belt, it’ll be great to bring it along. It’s always best to dive with your own equipment, with which you are familiar, or familiarise yourself with your new equipment before you start diving without an instructor.
