WHY DID I DECIDED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BREATHWORK FACILITATOR TRAINING?
I completed my Breathless Breathwork Instructor Training late last year and have spent some time (more accurately: a lot of time) reflecting back on the experience and its effect on my world. I had earlier in the year taken part in an expedition, and was hooked. Prior to the expedition I had participated in one breathwork session, and apart from enjoying the challenge of jumping in cold water every now and then or having the occasional cold shower (on a hot day no less) I hadn’t really practiced the art of cold exposure. I went with no expectations, and strategically no agenda. What I discovered on the expedition was a wealth of knowledge, experience and fun. It was mindful chaos with heart and exactly what I needed. For me, it was the tip of the iceberg- there was so much science and spirit within the practices that I needed to know and participate in more.
I had no hesitation in signing up for the breathwork instructor training and turning my life upside down to ensure I was on their next course. Coming from a science background, owning my own business, being a mum and juggling uni amongst that only added impetus to learn and understand what Johannes was sharing more. Even now I am still excited by how much in this field there is to experience, know, and potentially discover. I cannot speak highly enough of my time with Breathless. THE BACKGROUND
Johannes has lived and breathed (pun intended) breathwork for many years now, in all the most amazing places, with all the best teachers, passing on all his experience and knowledge graciously to anyone interested and I do not believe he has any intention to stop on this quest. The time spent in the snowy mountains of NSW with him and his team at Breathless was an experience I will forever hold dear and highly recommend to anyone who is, even the slightest bit, interested.
Coming from a science background the volume of scientific research and evidence behind this movement astounds me. The impacts on mental health, anxiety, sleep, asthma and psychosomatics was of particular interest to me, personally. The list however, of disease states, disorders and general living inconveniences that breathwork can be useful in is endless. I was, and still am, in awe of how accessible and powerful a tool our breathing is. It is something that we all do, constantly, every day, yet the information on how to breathe well and to our own benefit, until now, seems oddly nonmainstream and somewhat inaccessible. So, for me, the choice was easy- I had to partake in this Breathwork Instructor Training.First Group FacilitationEnd of BreathworkCuddles and LearningPost BreathworkSmiles on a Free periodCold Exposure
THE BREATHWORK INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
The facilities, food, support and the settings for the training and practice over the four days are nothing short of first class. Students are taught, guided and encouraged with openness and care. The depth and breadth of knowledge is engaging, but not overwhelming. It is not a course that you walk away from questioning how you will use the knowledge gained, but you will probably be questioning if there is a facet of life where the lessons you’ve learnt can’t be applied. Moreover, you will wonder how all this knowledge has not been more readily available.
As an avid learner however, what I found most valuable was the unlearning. What did I unlearn? To start I forgot to check my phone for long periods of time- which in this VUCA world is a pretty mean feat. I forgot that all these barriers and expectations I usually carry around on a daily basis were a thing. Very happily and willingly I unlearnt the necessity of a schedule and the need to be in control of every one of the days activities. I unlearnt ‘safe social distancing’, which I didn’t realise I needed. Ultimately the training was the perfect balance of knowledge and practical tools to allow a group of individuals to bring out into the world the best breath and ice practices.
AFTER THE BREATHLESS BREATHOWRK INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
I believe I speak for all the trainees in saying that it is hard to return to the reality of the normal world after participating in the Breathwork Instructor Training. However, the continuing education after the training facilitates a continued sense of community and connection crucial to integration even though everyone has returned to their separate lives and homes. The ongoing contact enables inspiration, support, and a diverse and easily accessible network, which is so majorly lacking in other learning institutions. I have been privileged to continue supporting and learning with Breathless, and many of my friends and family have benefitted from my training and knowledge. Other instructors have branched out professionally through this training in a variety of different fields. I believe that you take out of it exactly what suits you and what you need. I cannot recommend the Breathless Breathwork Instructor Training enough. If you’re reading this and wondering if it is something worth doing, please reach out, the team is only too happy to answer any questions, but without a doubt I would say YES. This course is for anyone and everyone who wants to learn, evolve, become a better person, help others, live life to the full, spend a weekend in the snowy mountains challenging yourself and breathe as best you can.
